Historie

1886
The Weißbier Brewery was established in Erding in Kordonhausgasse 8. Ist owner was Johann Kienle from Erding. In 1890 the ownership of the brewery was then transferred to the Stadlmaier family from Munich.

1930
The brewery in Erding was bought by the malt factory F.W. Otto AG from Hildesheim. Franz Brombach was made managing director and it was he who laid the foundation stone for the later success of the brewery.

1935
Franz Brombach took over the brewery. At that time the annual production of Weißbier was 2,500 hectolitres.

1949
The brewery is given the name ‘Erdinger Weißbräu’.

1950
6,000 bottles an hour can be filled.

1969
Everything expands rapidly: annual production climbs to 40,057 hectolitres. Werner Brombach, the current owner of the brewery, joins the business.

1970
The highly successful slogan ‘In the end everybody comes to Erdinger Weißbier’ is developed.

1971
The advertising campaign for the brand name of Erdinger Weißbier is set in motion and today still emphasises successfully the aspects of it being ‘an Old Bavarian speciality’ and ‘the high quality standards’ applying. In the meantime the brand’s new jingle, ‘Des Erdinger Weißbier, des is hoid a Pracht…’ has developed into a true all-time classic.

1975
Over eighty years old Franz Brombach dies but his son, Werner, succeeds him.

1983
After only 11 months construction time the new brewery with fermenting cellar, warehousing, filtration cellar and laboratory went into operation.

1989
The new bottling plant with its 110,000 bottles per hour capacity and the new high-bay warehouse with its 80,000 hectolitre capacity are started up.

1990
The production of Erdinger Weißbräu brewery passes the 1,000,000 hectolitre mark!

1991
Yet again a further new brew house goes into production and with it the production capacity climbs to 1.5 million hectolitres a year which can be increased to 2 million.

1992
Angela and Uwe Pianka take on the management of the traditional restaurant Erdinger Weißbräu in the Langen Zeile. Today the restaurant still represents traditional Bavarian hospitality. Later on the couple also took on the Erdinger Sports Bar out at the airport, the Restaurant zum Erdinger Weißbräu in Munich and also some of the food outlets at the Therme (thermal pool) in Erding. From this time on Pianka Gastronomie has also been responsible for the Weißbräu beer tent during the Autumn Beer Festival in Erding..

1995
The official ERDINGER fan club is started

1998
Sales of over 1.3 million hectolitres Erdinger Weißbier have made this the largest wheat beer brewery in the world and within Germany it is one of the largest breweries still in private ownership.

2000
The new visitors’ centre for guided tours of the brewery is opened at the beginning of the year. In this summer ERDINGER CHAMP enters the market, the brewing innovation of the year: the first ERDINGER Weißbier which can be drunk straight from the bottle.

2007
The ERDINGER fan club has over 75,000 members all over the world. Well, it tastes good, doesn’t it!
The year-long renovation work being done to the parent house in the Langen Zeile has now been completed.
In addition to the traditional restaurant, Erdinger Weißbräu, a very special hotel was built which contains 27 rooms, 6 suites and a bar.
